The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is all but official

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, a mid-range smartphone, has made its first appearance in an official certification database, solidifying rumors about its impending launch.

As reported by Smartprix, this device is identified in the IMEI database with the model number A069P, indicating a logical sequel to the previously released Nothing Phone (3a) Pro.

Notably, the prior model, the Phone (3a) Pro, was identified by the model number A059P, which gives clear insight into the identity of the upcoming smartphone, even without an explicit name stated.

As it stands, specific technical specifications for the new model are not available, with the IMEI entry solely confirming that the phone indeed exists.

While excitement grows, do not anticipate an official announcement in the immediate future. Devices like this usually show up in the IMEI database a significant time before their actual release, and considering that the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro was launched in late March, we could be waiting another five to six months for a formal reveal.

What We Hope to See

There are several improvements and features we hope the Nothing team is currently refining. Although we had a generally positive view of the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, it didn’t quite deliver the same value for its higher price point of £449 when compared to the standard Nothing Phone (3a).

For that increased cost, the camera system—highlighted as the main differentiator—could have offered more compelling performance levels.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro brought some unique elements to the mid-range segment, including a dedicated 3x telephoto camera, a feature quite rare below the £500 price range.

Furthermore, we appreciated the device’s exceptional battery longevity, stunning AMOLED display, and the fluidity of its interface. NothingOS 3.1 stands out as one of the most customizable Android skins available.

Thus, with a solid hardware and software basis in place yet noticeable room for enhancement, the anticipation for the soon-to-be-unveiled Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is certainly warranted.
