The Probability of Miracles Adaptation Gets Greenlight from Amazon MGM Studios
Amazon MGM Studios has officially given the green light for the adaptation of Wendy Wunder’s novel, “The Probability of Miracles,” into an eight-episode YA romance series on Prime Video. This exciting news has fans eagerly anticipating the release of this heartfelt and magical story on their screens.
Katie Lovejoy, known for her work on the “To All the Boys” film series and “Love at First Sight” on Netflix, will take on the roles of showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the series. Alloy Entertainment, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios, will also be producing the adaptation, with Leslie Morgenstein from Alloy serving as an executive producer.
Prior to landing at Amazon, “The Probability of Miracles” was in development with Lovejoy and Alloy Entertainment at HBO Max, adding to the anticipation surrounding this highly-anticipated project.
The series will follow Campbell Cooper, a witty teenager battling cancer, who moves to a town called Promise after receiving a terminal diagnosis. Despite her skepticism towards miracles, Cam finds herself in a town where the impossible seems possible. As she navigates her summer in Promise, she discovers that love and miracles can still exist, even in the most unlikely of circumstances.
Expressing her excitement for the project, Lovejoy shared, “I fell in love with Wendy Wunder’s beautiful novel in 2011, and now, 14 years later, I have the incredible opportunity to bring Cam’s journey to life on screen. I am grateful to Alloy, Warner Bros. Television, and Amazon for believing in this story as much as I do.”
Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein also expressed his enthusiasm for the adaptation, stating, “Wendy wrote an incredibly moving, funny, and bold novel that Alloy was privileged to be a part of bringing to life. In Katie’s hands, it will be a deeply romantic, funny, and moving series that will resonate with audiences.”
Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM’s global head of television, highlighted Lovejoy’s talents in bringing emotional depth and sharp humor to the project. He expressed his excitement for the series, stating, “’The Probability of Miracles’ is a beautiful and uplifting story about love, resilience, and the magic that can emerge even in life’s most challenging moments. We’re thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. Television and Alloy Entertainment to bring Wendy Wunder’s beloved YA novel to our global Prime Video audience.”
