Prime Video has exciting news for music lovers as they have unveiled the first-look photos of their new music drama series, “The Runarounds,” created by Jonas Pate, the co-creator of “Outer Banks.” The eight-episode series is set to exclusively premiere this fall.

“The Runarounds” follows a group of recent high school graduates in Wilmington, North Carolina, who come together to form a rock band during the summer after graduating. United by their shared love for music and their passion for chasing stardom, the band embarks on a journey to achieve their dreams while navigating love and trouble over the course of one summer. The series will feature an original soundtrack by the band formed in 2022, also named “The Runarounds.”

The cast of the series includes real-life musicians William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, ZendƩ Murdock, and Jesse Gollihe, alongside actors Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur, and Shea Pritchard.

Following the success of Netflix’s “Outer Banks,” “The Runarounds” will mark Jonas Pate’s first series. The show is executive produced by Pate, Joon Yun, David Wilcox, Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, Scott Lambert, and Lisa Mae Fincannon, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell from Skydance Television. The series is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance Television.

In other news, STARZ has renewed its docuseries “The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast” for a second season consisting of six parts. The documentary will feature an exclusive interview with Terry Flenory timed with the release of Season 4 of “BMF” on June 6. The series delves into the real-life stories of the Black Mafia Family figures who inspired the scripted series.

“The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast” narrates the rise and fall of the Black Mafia Family, one of the most notorious drug syndicates in American history. The documentary chronicles the story of Demetrius ā€œBig Meechā€ Flenory and Terry ā€œSouthwest Teeā€ Flenory, two brothers who rose from poverty, navigating Detroit’s drug scene in the ’80s to become infamous drug traffickers in the US. The second season will see Flenory share his story on camera for the first time.

Executive produced by Curtis ā€œ50 Centā€ Jackson and Shan Nicholson, the docuseries is produced by Jigsaw Productions and G-Unit Film & Television for STARZ.

Additionally, the animated comedy series “Haunted Hotel” is set to premiere on Netflix on September 19. Created and showrun by Matt Roller, the series follows a single mother of two running a haunted hotel where her estranged brother resides. The voice cast includes Eliza Coupe, Will Forte, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides, and Jimmi Simpson.

Lastly, the spy-thriller series “Butterfly,” starring and executive produced by Daniel Dae Kim, will release all six episodes on Prime Video on August 13. Based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series by Arash Amel, the series follows David Jung, an enigmatic former US intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose past decisions come back to haunt him. Kim stars alongside Reina Hardesty, Piper Perabo, and Louis Landau in the series.

With a lineup of exciting new series and renewals, there’s something for everyone to look forward to in the world of entertainment. Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on “The Eric Andre Show” and “Bad Trip,” has taken on a new challenge by directing the first two episodes of the upcoming mystery thriller series, “We Were Liars.” The series, based on the novel by E. Lockhart, follows the story of Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle known as the Liars, as they spend their summer vacation on a private island in New England.

The trailer for the series, released by Amazon Prime Video, gives viewers a glimpse into the world of Cadence and the Liars, played by a talented cast including Emily Alyn Lind, Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, and David Morse. As Cadence struggles to piece together the events following a car accident, she uncovers dark secrets that the Liars have been hiding.

Co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie have brought Lockhart’s novel to life on screen, with a team of executive producers including Emily Cummings, Brett Matthews, Pascal Verschooris, and Lockhart herself. The series promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as the mystery unfolds.

In addition to “We Were Liars,” another highly anticipated series is “The Institute,” directed and executive produced by Jack Bender. The show follows the story of teen genius Luke Ellis, played by Joe Freeman, who finds himself at a mysterious facility filled with children with unusual abilities. As Luke’s story intersects with that of former police officer Tim Jamieson, portrayed by Ben Barnes, a thrilling and suspenseful narrative unfolds.

The star-studded cast of “The Institute” includes Mary-Louise Parker, Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway, Julian Richings, Robert Joy, and Martin Roach. With executive producers such as Stephen King, Benjamin Cavell, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan, and Ed Redlich on board, the series promises to deliver a gripping and unforgettable viewing experience.

Fans can mark their calendars for the premiere of “The Institute” on July 13 at 9 p.m. PT on MGM+. With compelling storylines, talented casts, and visionary directors at the helm, both “We Were Liars” and “The Institute” are sure to captivate audiences and leave them craving for more.
