Hong Kong is set to unveil its English-language revenge drama “The Season,” co-produced with SK Global, known for hits like “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Thai Cave Rescue,” and “Delhi Crime.” The series is scheduled for a summer release.
During the Hong Kong FilMart event, PCCW Media announced that the six-part series will premiere globally in June 2026. Viewers across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa can stream it on Viu. In the United States, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ will host the series, while audiences in Hong Kong can watch it on Now TV. Fremantle, with assistance from De Maio Entertainment, is handling international distribution.
On March 18, the series creator, Yalun Tu, along with the cast, revealed the release date at FilMart.
“The Season” takes viewers into the lavish world of Hong Kong’s elite, centering on the Hext family, a dynasty with deep roots in the city’s horse racing, exclusive yacht events, and high-profile charity galas. However, beneath the glamorous exterior, tensions are brewing. The newcomer Cola, with a hidden agenda, threatens to disrupt this carefully maintained world of high society.
The series boasts a diverse cast, led by Jessie Mei Li as Cola. Toby Stephens and Karena Lam, a three-time Golden Horse Award winner, play Christopher and Fiona Hext. The ensemble also features Chris Pang, Celina Jade, Justin Chien, Yvonne Chapman, Kōki, and Lee Jae-yoon, with special appearances by Hong Kong stars Anson Lo of Mirror and Marf Yau of Collar.
Yalun Tu, known for his work on “NCIS: Hawaii” and collaborations with Amazon Japan and HBO Asia, created and executive produced the series. Chilean director Marialy Rivas serves as the lead director and executive producer.
The series is entirely filmed in Hong Kong. Tu mentioned during a group appearance that the city offers many contrasts, such as old and new, tradition and modernity, cityscapes and waterfronts, all of which inspired the series’ depiction of a high gloss world while highlighting local Hong Kong elements.
Jessie Mei Li, discussing her role as Cola, described her character as an “outsider looking in” who harbors a “deep dark secret” and leads a double life. Chris Pang, known for “Crazy Rich Asians,” shared that he plays a wealthy “new money” member of a hotelier family, a role he found “so much fun to play.”
Executive producers for the series include PCCW Media’s Janice Lee, CEO, and Agatha Lo, along with SK Global’s Chloe Dan, exec VP and head of television, supported by Matt Aragachi and Dylan Tarason.
