Before Lana Del Rey captivated fans with her stunning marriage to Jeremy Dufrene in September 2024, the acclaimed singer first sought out bridal designer Macye Wysner, the visionary behind the Los Angeles-based label Cinq. However, it took some time for Wysner to recognize Del Rey’s attempts to connect.
“Lana had sent us a direct message several months before we actually met face-to-face,” Macye shares with Vogue. “She reached out via DM and even called us on Instagram, but we completely missed her message. It was amusing because after a few months, she tried again. Her stylist, Molly [Dickson], reached out through email and jokingly asked, ‘Are you guys the hottest club to get into? We really can’t seem to contact you!’”

Initially, Del Rey arrived at the Cinq studio under the guise of attending her friend Val’s appointment, not for her own wedding dress fitting. However, when Val tried on the River gown—a design she ultimately passed on—it ultimately inspired Del Rey’s custom creation. “A delightful twist to the story is that while we were having lunch with bridal stylist Hope Levine, she randomly looked at me and said, ‘You’re going to create Lana Del Rey’s wedding dress one day,’” Macye recalls. “Of course, I dismissed it as our friend Hope being her usual overly optimistic self. Yet, on our way home from lunch, Lana called.”
“When she called, she expressed her admiration for the dress saying, ‘I felt like it was my dress the moment I saw it. I’m getting married in a couple of months, and it feels serendipitous that I happened to be here with my friend,’” Macye recounts.
Del Rey was keen on ensuring her dress reflected her personal style perfectly. Thus, she collaborated closely with the Cinq team to realize her vision. “We spent hours sitting on the floor until 4 a.m. in the showroom,” recalls Madelyn Wysner, Macye’s sister and Cinq’s COO. “We added lace to the skirt, and she wanted these charming pickups with petite bows to truly infuse her unique touch. The overall vibe was very Victorian.”
