T.K. Carter, Actor Known for “The Thing” and “Punky Brewster,” Passes Away at 69

T.K. Carter, the talented actor recognized for his roles in the horror classic “The Thing” and the beloved television series “Punky Brewster,” has sadly passed away at the age of 69.

Carter’s publicist, Tony Freeman, confirmed that the actor died at his home in Duarte, Calif. on Friday. While the cause of death was not disclosed, foul play is not suspected.

Describing Carter as a consummate professional with a genuine soul, Freeman expressed that the actor’s talent transcended genres, bringing laughter, truth, and humanity to every role he portrayed. Carter’s legacy is expected to inspire generations of artists and fans.

Thomas Kent Carter, born on December 18, 1956, in New York City, began his acting career in 1976 with a debut on NBC’s “Police Woman.” He went on to make guest appearances on popular series like “Quincy, M.E.” and “Good Times” before landing his breakthrough role as Naul in John Carpenter’s “The Thing” in 1982. Carter also had a recurring role as Mike Fulton on “Punky Brewster” from 1985 to 1986.

In addition to his work on the big screen, Carter appeared in various films and TV shows, including “The Sinbad Show,” “Space Jam,” “Runaway Train,” “Family Matters,” “Rush Hour,” and many more. His recent roles included parts in “The Way Back,” “Fake Friends,” “Dave,” and “The Company You Keep.”

T.K. Carter’s legacy will live on through his memorable performances and the impact he made on the entertainment industry. He is survived by his mother and children.
