President Donald Trump and White House adviser Stephen Miller continue to deny the mistaken deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a prison in El Salvador known for torture, despite the Justice Department acknowledging the error.
Miller appeared on Fox News to address the situation, claiming a victory in a Supreme Court case when in reality, the justices issued an unsigned opinion last week stating that steps need to be taken to bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S.
The Trump administration alleges that Abrego Garcia is linked to MS-13, but he is actually under a protective order from an immigration court and has not been charged with any crimes in the U.S.
Miller argues that Abrego Garcia was not mistakenly sent to El Salvador, contradicting previous statements from Justice Department lawyers who admitted the error.
Despite court orders to facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return, Trump indicated he may consider sending violent U.S. criminals to the same prison in El Salvador.
The situation remains unresolved as El Salvador’s president labeled Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” and expressed reluctance to intervene.
