NEW YORK (AP) — The Trump family has announced a new venture involving licensing its name to a mobile phone service, amid ongoing ethical concerns about potential conflicts of interest while Donald Trump is in the White House.
Eric Trump, overseeing The Trump Organization, revealed that the new venture, named Trump Mobile, will offer phones manufactured in the U.S. and operate a call center within the country.
The launch of the mobile phone and service, known as T1 Mobile, comes after recent real estate deals in the Middle East and Vietnam, including a golf development project in Qatar and a partnership for building golf courses and hotels in Vietnam.
“Hard-working Americans deserve a wireless service that’s affordable, reflects their values, and delivers reliable quality they can count on,” said Eric Trump in a statement.
Notably, the new gold-colored phone, T1 Phone, set to be available in August, will be designed and manufactured by a separate company, not Trump Mobile.
Priced at $47.45 per month, the Trump service will utilize existing cellular carriers with access to a 5G network, offering free texts and calls, unlimited data, free roadside assistance, and a telehealth service for prescriptions.
