WASHINGTON – On December 11th, 2025, Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), Michael Kratsios, presided over the third meeting of the White House Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Task Force. This gathering brought together cabinet officials, educators, and parents to delve into the transformative effects of AI in educational settings.
The primary focus of today’s Task Force meeting was to bridge the gap between government officials and the community, specifically parents and educators, to discuss the myriad opportunities and challenges AI presents within K-12 education. Participants included Chris Woolard from the Ohio Department of Education, Adeel Khan, the innovative founder and CEO of Magic School, and Tina Descovish, Co-Founder of Moms for Liberty.
“Our objective with all AI education initiatives is to demystify these extraordinary technologies. If families, young learners, and educators grasp how AI functions, they can better discern its strengths and weaknesses. This understanding empowers them to harness AI tools responsibly and effectively,” stated OSTP Director Kratsios.
Members of the Task Force encompass a diverse array of officials, including the Director of OSTP, the Secretaries of Agriculture, Labor, Education, and Energy, the Director of the National Science Foundation, the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, the Special Advisor for AI & Crypto, and the Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to the First Lady.
During the meeting, Director Kratsios also underscored the Presidential AI Challenge, which encourages both students and educators to enhance their AI literacy. Since its inception, the challenge has attracted over 5,000 students and 1,000 educators from all 50 states, indicating a burgeoning interest in this critical skill set.
This meeting builds on President Trump’s Executive Order aimed at Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth, complementing America’s AI Action Plan. For more detailed insights into the White House Task Force on AI Education, visit https://www.ai.gov/initiatives/education.
