The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death as an accident, citing diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation as the cause.
Reports indicate that Brown was inside a barn attempting to jump-start a vehicle when the fire broke out. He urgently called a family member for help, but unfortunately, by the time assistance arrived, the barn was already engulfed in flames. Tragically, Brown’s wife sustained severe burns while trying to rescue him.
Brown’s acting career was marked by his notable roles in various television shows and films. Apart from his memorable portrayal in “The Wire,” he also appeared in “Law & Order: SVU” and played Sgt. Thomas Allers in the HBO miniseries “We Own This City.” His talent extended to the big screen with credits in movies such as “Love the Hard Way,” “My One and Only,” and “From Within.” Additionally, he showcased his skills behind the camera by directing documentaries on pit bulls and Parliament Funkadelic.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Brown initially pursued a career in professional boxing before transitioning to acting after being inspired by Mickey Rourke’s performance in the film “Homeboy.” His agent, Albert Bramante, expressed deep sadness over Brown’s passing, praising his dedication to the craft of acting and his pleasant demeanor on set. Family members also noted that Brown was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, adding a layer of depth to his character.
