Elaine Merk Binder, who famously played one of the munchkins in “The Wizard of Oz,” has passed away at the age of 94.

Elaine’s daughter, Annette Phillips, confirmed her mother’s death on Sunday. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed.

Elaine was one of the last surviving actors who portrayed the munchkins in the iconic 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz.”

She auditioned for the role in 1938 and was selected as one of the eight munchkins who danced and sang in the movie.

In the film, Elaine can be seen during the performance of “Come Out, Come Out,” standing in the second little house up the steps. She is also one of the dancers in the pavilion at the rear during “Off to See the Wizard,” wearing a dark green dress and hat.

Elaine celebrated her 8th birthday while filming on the MGM lot.

Reflecting on her experience, Elaine once said, “I tried out for the ‘Wizard of Oz’ Munchkins. For me, it was scary. It was my first big call for girls from a major studio.”

Elaine lived a full life and will be remembered for her role in the timeless classic.

Rest in peace, Elaine Merk Binder.
