Behold! It’s Buzz soaring through the sky!
Massive balloons featuring four new animated characters set to star in the upcoming 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade took a test flight above MetLife Stadium on Saturday.
Buzz Lightyear from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Toy Story” donned his iconic lime green, purple, and white space suit as he glided high above East Rutherford, gearing up for the 2.5-mile parade route that concludes at Macy’s Herald Square on Thanksgiving Day.
Joining the lineup at the Macy’s Balloonfest trial run was Pac-Man, inspired by the Bandai Namco retro arcade game celebrating its 45th anniversary.
Another classic character making a debut was Mario from Nintendo, clad in his trademark red cap, shirt, blue overalls, and white gloves.
Also making a grand appearance was the lovable ogre, Shrek, alongside his wife Fiona, riding their enchanting onion carriage from Universal Pictures’ Dreamworks Animation franchise.
The tradition of character balloons at the parade dates back to 1927, just a few years after its inception.
This year, the beloved tradition will be showcased on NBC and Peacock.
