Jack and George Barnett, the twin brothers behind the experimental band These New Puritans, have formed a close creative partnership with acclaimed photographer Harley Weir. The trio first connected in the late 2000s, with Weir quickly establishing herself as a rising star in the photography world. George describes Weir as having a unique ability to make the familiar seem strange and the strange feel familiar, dubbing her the best photographer of their generation.
Their collaboration has been a fruitful one, with shared reference points and a deep understanding of each other’s creative vision. Weir recalls their initial meeting, which started with a connection on Myspace and a chance encounter on a train. Since then, they have worked together on various projects, including the visually stunning visuals for These New Puritans’ critically acclaimed album “Inside the Rose” in 2019.
As These New Puritans gear up for the release of their fifth record, “Crooked Wing,” they have once again joined forces with Weir for a series of new music videos. The first, a Caroline Polachek-featuring “Industrial Love Song,” featured a unique concept of a lover’s duet between two construction cranes. Today, they unveil the video for “A Season in Hell,” starring Alexander Skarsgård.
The collaboration between These New Puritans and Harley Weir continues to push boundaries and explore new creative territories. Their shared artistic sensibilities and mutual respect for each other’s work have resulted in visually stunning and emotionally resonant projects that captivate audiences. As they prepare to release “Crooked Wing,” fans can expect more innovative and thought-provoking content from this dynamic trio.
