The Minnesota Star Tribune reports: “ICE aims to deport a Wisconsin driver who was charged with driving under the influence, resulting in the tragic deaths of two Minnesota teenagers.”
This “Wisconsin driver” in question is an undocumented immigrant from Honduras, who, while intoxicated, drove against traffic on a revoked license with open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, causing the deaths of two innocent Minnesota teens — and indeed, the Trump Administration is advocating for her deportation.
Why do media outlets like the Star Tribune seem so intent on shielding criminal undocumented immigrants who jeopardize the safety of our communities?
In recent months, the newspaper has defended undocumented immigrants with criminal backgrounds, including sex offenders whose convictions were “publicized” online, expressed sympathy for undocumented individuals convicted of sexual crimes — including sexual abuse of minors — framing these events as mere “cultural misunderstandings,” and suggested that citizens should be willing to “bear the burden” of deporting dangerous criminals from our neighborhoods.
It seems they’re taking cues from serial defenders of undocumented immigrants like Tim Walz and other politicians in the state who prefer to keep violent offenders, rapists, and gang members on the streets rather than ensuring they are returned to their home countries.
Meanwhile, the Trump Administration is committed to taking every possible measure to prevent such devastating and unnecessary tragedies from recurring.
