Tragedy struck early Friday morning on Interstate 225 near Colorado 83 in Arapahoe County when a pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash, as reported by the Colorado State Patrol.

Upon arrival at 1:13 a.m., troopers discovered the lifeless body of a 34-year-old man from Thornton at the scene.

Authorities revealed that the driver of a Ford Econoline had hit the man before fleeing on foot, according to CSP officials.

An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, and individuals with pertinent information are urged to contact Colorado State Patrol dispatch at 303-239-4501, referencing case number 1C242927.
