On Saturday, tens of thousands of leftist “No Kings” demonstrators took to the streets in New York City and various locations nationwide, brandishing provocative signs to voice their dissent against President Trump, as the progressive Chicago Mayor encouraged locals to prepare for a “fight.”
In Chicago—where residents have faced off against ICE officials enforcing Trump’s deportation policies—Mayor Brandon Johnson rallied protesters, asking them to be “ready.”
“Are you prepared to protect this democracy? Are you ready to confront fascism? Are you set to dismantle authoritarianism once and for all!” he shouted. “Let the world hear you: no kings!”
Approximately 100,000 participants gathered in Midtown, as reported by the NYPD, which noted that no arrests had occurred.
In Manhattan, protesters against Israel shouted “Free Palestine,” concurrently demanding President Trump—who recently facilitated a notable peace agreement with Hamas—be removed from office.
Others displayed vulgar signs shouting, “F—k Trump,” labeling the president as a “fascist” and a “tyrant.”
Multiple signs observed in Midtown featured the word “ANTIFA” alongside the images of personalities like comedian Jimmy Kimmel, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and California Governor Gavin Newsom—branding them as associates of the far-left movement, according to footage shared on X by journalist Savannah Hernandez.
Protesters also condemned ICE, equating the agency with the KKK.
A video captured one demonstrator celebrating the reported assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, declaring, “Charlie Kirk is trash. I’m glad Hitler is dead. Evil people don’t belong in my world. His actions were abhorrent.” This clip was shared on X by journalist Collin Rugg.
Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont addressed the crowd, indicating that “democracy is in peril when a president seeks more and more control for himself and his fellow oligarchs.”
Trump refuted claims of being a king.
“They say they call me a king. I’m not a king,” Trump stated in an interview with Fox News on Friday.
Many of his prominent supporters, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, labeled the protests as “hate America” rallies.
This march was orchestrated by a coalition featuring organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union, Indivisible, 50501, and many others. They claimed to have organized 2,600 events nationwide.
The Open Society Action Fund, financed by George Soros, donated $3 million to Indivisible. Trump has frequently accused Democrats of compensating protesters opposing his administration.
In a humorous twist, the White House ridiculed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries on X, sharing a meme depicting the two Democrats as cartoon princesses with a “No Kings” caption.
The account additionally posted a photograph of Schumer wearing a sombrero, dubbing him the ‘NY king of sombreros.’
