Donald Trump is set to be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” for the second time, following his initial recognition in 2016 after winning the presidential election. To mark the occasion, the president-elect will ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, according to sources familiar with the plans.

Last year, pop sensation Taylor Swift graced the cover of Time magazine as the “Person of the Year,” with Time CEO Jessica Sibley ringing the opening bell of the stock exchange to celebrate the unveiling of the cover.

Trump will join a prestigious list of 13 other U.S. presidents who have received the honor, including the current President Joe Biden. The shortlist for Time Person of the Year this year includes Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk, and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Time magazine has already announced other notable recognitions for the year, including NBA star Caitlin Clark as Athlete of the Year, Elton John as Icon of the Year, and Lisa Su of Advanced Micro Devices as CEO of the Year.

A spokesperson for Time stated that the magazine does not comment on its annual choice for Person of the Year prior to publication, with the official announcement set to be made tomorrow morning on Time.com.

Trump has always had a keen interest in being featured on magazine covers, particularly on Time magazine. The “Person of the Year” title is awarded to a newsmaker who has made a significant impact on the events of the year, with past recipients ranging from political leaders like Winston Churchill and Vladimir Putin to monarchs like Queen Elizabeth II.

In the past, Trump has expressed mixed feelings about the magazine’s annual list of influential people, at times criticizing it as a “joke and stunt” while also acknowledging being named “Person of the Year” as a “great honor.”

Despite his previous remarks, Trump has graced the cover of Time magazine three times this year, cementing his influence on the world stage. His upcoming recognition as “Person of the Year” further solidifies his impact on global events and politics.
