Fans are bidding adieu to Timothée Chalamet’s iconic curls as he unveils a striking buzz cut.
On Tuesday, October 7, the 29-year-old actor showcased his new look during an Instagram Live session, while promoting his forthcoming film, Marty Supreme.
In the video, which he subsequently uploaded to his Instagram grid, Chalamet appeared inside a glass box, playfully surrounded by orange ping pong balls. He sported a large orange ball atop his head, hiding his new hairstyle.
The camera shifted to other actors dressed in similar attire, engaged in a game of ping pong. It then refocused on Chalamet, who stepped out of the glass enclosure and removed the ball from his head, revealing his shaved head. He complemented his haircut with a blue sweatshirt emblazoned with “Marty Supreme,” along with green earplugs and dark gloves.
As the livestream continued, Chalamet removed his earplugs and gloves before donning a pair of glasses. He playfully shook loose ping pong balls from his hood while strolling towards the camera. He then jogged over to a structure, entering a studio set where he sat down to lace his boots, surveying the space. The clip concluded with him sipping water and stating, “Marty Supreme is an American film set to release on Christmas 2025.”
Reactions to his buzz cut flooded social media, with one commenter questioning, “Why would he do this? He ruined his face card no shade,” while another exclaimed, “Jump scare omfg.” Comments ranged from suggestions to “undebut” the new hairstyle to users simply stating, “I have no words.”
In contrast, many fans applauded his fresh look. “It actually suits him well,” one admirer remarked, with another adding, “Honestly, he looks more mature. It’s a good look.” One fan even encouraged, “Oh Timmy, it’s alright, you still look great.”
This transformation marks a departure from Chalamet’s signature long curls that he has sported for some time.
While shooting Marty Supreme in 2024, he was seen with a neatly trimmed style, featuring shorter sides and bangs brushed down with soft waves.
The official synopsis for Marty Supreme centers on Marty Mauser (Chalamet), who “chases his dream of becoming a champion table-tennis player.”
Chalamet was recently spotted flaunting his newly shaved head while enjoying time with girlfriend Kylie Jenner in a New York City bar.
Prior to his buzz cut, he sported longer locks throughout 2023, particularly during his press tour for Wonka. At the London premiere, his hair was elegantly styled, with curls neatly pushed back and just past his ears.
In 2019, he showcased even longer hair with messy crimps at the premiere of Little Women in Paris, highlighting stylish front pieces cut to his cheekbones with the rest neatly trimmed down the nape of his neck.
