Tina Peters Involved in Prison Scuffle According to Surveillance Footage

Tina Peters was caught on surveillance footage grabbing another inmate’s neck and shoving her during a scuffle in prison on Sunday night. The video obtained by JS contradicts claims made by Peters’ defense attorney.

The footage shows Peters, a former Mesa County clerk and ally of President Donald Trump, maneuvering a cart toward a closet in an open room. Another inmate carrying cleaning supplies tries to move the cart away, leading to Peters grabbing and shoving her into the middle of the room.

State Corrections Department spokeswoman, Alondra Gonzalez-Garcia, confirmed that Peters was involved in an incident with another inmate, but no one was injured. Peters has been moved to a different housing unit in the prison, and no charges have been filed as a result of the scuffle.

Peters was sentenced to nine years in jail and prison in October 2024 for providing unauthorized access to Mesa County’s election systems. Her incarceration has garnered support from Trump and conservative allies, who claim she was wrongfully convicted. Trump issued a federal pardon for Peters, demanding her release.

Despite claims from Peters’ supporters that she was assaulted in the closet, the video evidence and the department’s statement suggest otherwise. Peters’ defense team alleged that she faces criminal charges as a result of the incident.

Prison officials noted that Peters had a mixed first year in prison, receiving write-ups for minor infractions like loitering. Peters expressed frustration in her inmate file, stating she planned to expose negative aspects of the prison on social media.

Gov. Jared Polis is considering a request to release or alter Peters’ sentence, calling it “harsh” and “unusual.” However, several state officials have urged him to leave her sentence in place.

The investigation into the prison scuffle involving Tina Peters is ongoing, as authorities work to determine the full details of the incident.
