Toby Byrne to Lead A+E Networks Ad Sales Division

Toby Byrne, a seasoned professional in the TV ad-sales industry, is set to take on the role of president of A+E Networks’ ad-sales division, succeeding Peter Olsen, who will retire after a successful 20-year tenure at the company. Byrne will officially assume his new position in February and will report to Paul Buccieri, president and chairman of A+E Networks.

Byrne initially joined A+E Networks as executive vice president of ad sales in January 2024. In his new capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing all ad sales operations across A+E’s diverse portfolio, which includes The History Channel, A&E, Lifetime, and their digital platforms. Additionally, Byrne will lead content partnerships and strategic audience solutions initiatives within the company.

Paul Buccieri commended Byrne’s contributions to A+E Networks, stating, “In less than a year, Toby’s impact has already strengthened A+E’s position as a marketplace innovator. With his collaborative approach and dedication to impactful partnerships, Toby will continue driving success in our rapidly evolving industry, building upon Peter’s legacy as A+E Networks enters its next phase of growth and excellence.”

Peter Olsen, during his tenure at A+E Networks, championed new forms of audience measurement and pioneered the concept of guaranteeing business outcomes for advertisers. His innovative strategies have solidified A+E’s prominence in multiplatform advertising and set the stage for continued success. Buccieri praised Olsen’s leadership and contributions to the industry.

Prior to joining A+E Networks, Toby Byrne served as president of ZEFR, a technology company specializing in audience targeting and measurement on platforms like YouTube, Meta, and TikTok. At Fox, Byrne led ad-sales teams across various networks, overseeing a large team of staff members. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
