On this day in 1920, the Boston Red Sox owner, Harry Frazee, sold Babe Ruth’s contract to the New York Yankees, sparking a successful era for the Yankees and a long period of disappointment for Red Sox fans. The Red Sox would later break the “curse” in 2004 by winning their first World Series in 86 years.
