Todd Chrisley Reacts to Savannah Exposing Family Drama on TV

Todd Chrisley has expressed his discontent regarding daughter Savannah showcasing family turmoil on television.

During the October 1 episode of the “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast, Todd lamented that he would have preferred the family drama involving Savannah and her grandfather, Harvey Hughes, remain behind closed doors.

“From my perspective, sometimes less is more, right?” Todd, 56, shared with his wife, Julie, 52. He candidly admitted, “Once I found out that her comments were broadcast, I wasn’t on board.”

Todd articulated his belief that Savannah, now 28, should have discussed her issues with her grandfather—who happens to be Julie’s father—in a private setting, displaying a modicum of respect for her mother’s feelings. “If you wish to address his shortcomings as a grandfather, it ought to have been done off the air,” he stated. “But then again, I do not dictate these matters.”

Despite his desire for discretion within familial matters, Todd conceded that it’s true Harvey did show a preference for Savannah’s brother Chase, 29, during their upbringing. He mused, “This has been a pattern in her life, hasn’t it? I believe this was rooted in her childhood because, let’s face it, your dad isn’t exactly recognized for uplifting women. He hails from a different era.”

The rift within the family became palpable during the premiere of Lifetime’s The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, aired in September.

Harvey appeared to take issue with how Savannah addressed her parents’ release from prison—thanks to a presidential pardon issued by Donald Trump in May while Todd and Julie were serving sentences for bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion.

In a particularly charged moment, viewers saw an exasperated Savannah silently mouth, “I hate him!” during their interaction.

Julie, in a poignant reflection on the podcast, revealed the emotional toll the ongoing conflict takes on her as she grapples with the reality of her daughter and father being at odds. “It’s disheartening,” she stated. “Each individual copes with pain differently, and I hope they can reconnect, for the sake of their familial bond.”

In a moment of empathy, Julie acknowledged the validity of Savannah’s feelings, recalling her father’s admission of failure in their relationship. “He conceded, ‘I have let you down,’” she recounted.
