Monica Bellucci Joins Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Sequel
Monica Bellucci is set to star in the highly anticipated sequel to Tim Burton’s cult classic film, Beetlejuice. While she did not appear in the original film, which was released 35 years ago, Bellucci has a history of working with Burton, who has a tendency to cast his lovers in his films. In this upcoming sequel, Bellucci will take on the role of Delores, the ex-wife of Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice.
Describing her character as a “stitched up doll,” Bellucci expressed her excitement about joining the project. “I’m so honored to be part of this film and to come into Tim’s world,” she said. “Tim is an artist and he knows how to make situations that are fantastic and horrific and comic and emotional all at the same time.”
Reflecting on her collaboration with Burton, Bellucci shared, “He helped me so much to create this monster, more than a monster, she is a creature. She is mean but also charming. She is a metaphor of life.” Burton’s influence on Bellucci extended to her appreciation of Italian cinema, as he introduced her to films by Italian directors like Mario Bava, known for the 1957 horror classic I Vampiri.
