Topic Studios is set to produce a groundbreaking new TV and podcast series titled “200 East Main.” The series will delve into the harrowing story of Sean Williams, a Tennessee businessman who was accused and convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting numerous women. Shockingly, police allegedly covered up his crimes and failed to take action on reports of assault. Renowned journalist Kimu Elolia, a native of Johnson City, Tenn., will lead the production of the series, with Christy Gressman and Christine Connor serving as executive producers for Topic Studios.
Elolia, in collaboration with Johnson City journalist Jeff Keeling, has been closely following the story since local rumors first surfaced in 2018, long before it garnered national attention. “200 East Main” will offer a unique perspective on the events, emphasizing a “trauma-informed and community-first” approach. The series will feature on-the-ground interviews and exclusive access to inside information, drawing on Elolia and Keeling’s deep roots in the local community.
“I personally know many of the victims mentioned in the lawsuit against the Johnson City Police Department,” Elolia revealed in a statement. “This scandal has been an open secret within the community for years, and it is heartbreaking that it took tragedies and violence for the voices of the victims and survivors to be heard. My goal in telling this story is to bring justice and closure to the affected individuals and their families, while also holding those responsible for these atrocities accountable.”
The project will include interviews with key victims of Williams, many of whom are actively involved in legal actions against the Johnson City Police Department. By combining visual and audio mediums, Topic Studios aims to present this important narrative in the most comprehensive manner possible. Christy Gressman, VP of podcasts at Topic Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Elolia, highlighting the journalist’s deep connection to the Johnson City community and his extensive experience in journalism and podcast production.
“200 East Main” promises to be a powerful and impactful series that sheds light on a dark chapter in the history of Johnson City. Through meticulous research and compelling storytelling, Elolia and his team are dedicated to giving a voice to the victims and survivors of these heinous crimes, ultimately seeking justice and accountability for all those affected.
