Adrianna Mitchell has landed a role in the highly anticipated Tracy Morgan comedy series “Crutch,” exclusively reported by Variety. Mitchell joins Jermaine Fowler in the cast of the upcoming Paramount+ series, which is set to start production this month in New York.

The show, originally announced in May, features Morgan in the lead role of Francois “Frank” Crutchfield, who goes by the nickname “Crutch.” The series is said to take place in the same world as the CBS comedy “The Neighborhood.” The official logline for the show describes Crutch as a brash yet beloved Harlem shop owner whose life is turned upside down when his sophisticated son (Fowler) and free-spirited daughter (Mitchell) move back home.

Mitchell’s character, Jamilah, is described as a free-spirited naturalista with a dry wit and sharp tongue. After her marriage falls apart, she finds herself back in Harlem with her two children, Lisa and Mase, seeking refuge at Crutch’s doorstep.

Mitchell is best known for her role as Tanosse in the FX drama “Snowfall” and has also appeared in popular shows like “Evil,” “The Good Fight,” “Little America,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” She recently made her Broadway debut in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Fat Ham,” where she played the character Opal.

Represented by Artists & Representatives and Wright Entertainment, Inc., Mitchell’s addition to the cast brings a new dynamic to the series. “Crutch” is developed by Owen Smith, who serves as executive producer and showrunner. Cedric the Entertainer, star of “The Neighborhood,” also executive produces alongside Eric C. Rhone under their A Bird and a Bear Entertainment banner. Morgan, in addition to starring, will also executive produce the series.

Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment and Wendi Trilling of TrillTV are also on board as executive producers, with CBS Studios handling production. Paramount Global Content Distribution will distribute the series once it is completed.

Fans of Tracy Morgan and comedy enthusiasts alike are eagerly anticipating the premiere of “Crutch,” which promises to deliver laughs and heartwarming moments in equal measure. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new series coming soon to Paramount+.
