According to officials, traffic was disrupted at Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday due to an engine failure on a Florida-bound JetBlue flight.
Passengers and crew on Flight 543 had to evacuate the Airbus A320 after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit and cabin. The evacuation was carried out using slides, with no reported injuries.
Flights were temporarily halted for about an hour before resuming at the airport just outside New York City, as reported by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Flightaware.
Flightaware data showed delays for 31% of arriving flights and 30% of departing flights at Newark Airport.
The FAA announced that they would investigate the incident involving the JetBlue flight bound for West Palm Beach, Florida.
