In the wake of the unexpected passing of Diane Keaton, an indoor cycling instructor reminisced about the actress’s distinctive workout outfits.
“When I saw the text this morning announcing Diane Keaton’s passing, I prayed it was misinformation,” Adam Goldstein, who previously taught in Los Angeles and is currently an instructor in Idaho, shared on Instagram on Saturday, October 11.
“During my time at Flywheel in West Hollywood, she would come to my spinning class almost every Saturday alongside her daughter,” he continued. “She was truly among the kindest, most humorous, and relatable personalities I’ve ever encountered.”
Goldstein added, “It was impossible not to notice her presence in the room—not only because of her fame but also the way she rocked her hat, sunglasses, striped outfit, and kept everyone entertained.”
The instructor went on to describe how in Hollywood, it’s not uncommon to be let down by someone you admire. However, he stated, “Diane was even more charming in person than on-screen, which seems almost impossible,” he expressed. “My deepest condolences go out to her family and close friends. Today we’ve lost a true icon.”
He wrapped up with, “Thank you, Diane, for the joy you brought to countless lives. Your vibrant spirit was a gift to everyone in that spin studio on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.”
A spokesperson confirmed to People that Keaton passed away in California at the age of 79. Details surrounding her death remain private, as her family has requested space to grieve.
Known for her incredible performances in movies like The Godfather, Father of the Bride, Something’s Gotta Give, and The First Wives Club, Keaton was also revered as a fashion icon.
“It’s a privilege! Why me? I feel so lucky,” Keaton shared with Vogue regarding her fashionista status. “I adore clothes and enjoy observing styles. I collect magazines and often cut out visuals that inspire me—whether it be a Dior outfit, interesting hats, or home decor ideas. It’s an addiction.”
Her love for turtlenecks, which she deemed “underappreciated,” along with her vast assortment of hats and scarves, became part of her signature look.
“I mixed in a tie or two from the ’70s and some polka dots from the ’80s, along with my cross necklaces from the ’90s, but kept my black turtlenecks as my solitary nod to the ’60s,” she once mentioned to The Gloss about her fashion sense. “I toned down bright colors and embraced my love for black and white.”
Notably, Keaton had a penchant for belts.
“I have my own unique figure, and the best approach for me to conceal it, while still enjoying my look, is to utilize belts. They truly are lifesavers,” Keaton remarked in a social media video back in July 2020. “I thought I’d share these tips on how to dress a body like mine—mine is, well, quite straight and not necessarily ideal. But wearing a belt helps, don’t you think?”
