Travis Kelce is keeping his fiancée Taylor Swift in mind as he prepares for his Sunday Night Football game.
The 36-year-old Kelce showed up for the October 12 game against the Detroit Lions at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium, dressed in a plaid long-sleeve Louis Vuitton shirt, light-colored trousers, and tinted sunglasses.
Just days before the game, 35-year-old Swift was seen in New York City sporting a long black shirt, a plaid skirt, and brown knee-high boots, complementing her look with her iconic red lipstick.
This comes over a month after the couple, who began their romance in the summer of 2023, shared their engagement news.
In August, the couple playfully captioned their social media pictures, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Swift showcased her engagement ring, designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, in one of the photos.
During a recent reflection on the proposal, Swift shared that Travis proposed after they recorded a segment for his podcast, “New Heights,” which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. This recording also served as the moment she unveiled her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that, “For Travis, the podcast was sort of a distraction, a way to keep me from looking out the house windows.” She added that this time around, however, the windows were covered with “fully, like, blackout drapes.”
Swift recounted Kelce’s nerves during their podcast session, recalling, “He was saying, ‘My heart is racing… I know how much this means to you. I just want it to be what you hoped for.’ I’ve never seen him nervous before.”
She noted that at one point, he suggested, “Do you want to just walk around the backyard and have a glass of wine?” Swift affirmed, “I’m always down for that,” which made her realize why everything was covered and why he appeared anxious. “It was the best possible-case scenario,” she said.
Following the release of The Life of a Showgirl earlier this month, Swift disclosed that several tracks were written with Travis in mind, notably “Opalite.”
“He really loves that one,” Swift stated in a Friday chat with the U.K.’s Capital FM radio. “I keep favorite words and phrases in a running list for when I’m writing.”
Swift included “opalite” in that list, sharing, “Opal can be man-made like diamonds, and it’s also Travis’ birthstone. I’ve always been drawn to it and thought it worked well as a metaphor: just like happiness can be created. That’s the core theme of the song, contrasting those ideas.”
