Federal authorities recently apprehended two confirmed members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua in Aurora on charges of murder and aggravated kidnapping. Carl Luis Zambrano-Bolivar, 26, and Jhonata Nahin Toro Gonzalez, 22, both Venezuelan immigrants residing in the U.S. illegally, were taken into custody on September 26 by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as stated in an ICE press release.
Another alleged member of Tren de Aragua, Ehiker Morales Mendoza, 38, was arrested on October 11 in Las Cruces, N.M., in connection with the suspected murder of Nilzuly Enrique Arneaud-Petit, 33, in north Texas.
Acting special agent in charge of ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations in Dallas, Travis Pickard, remarked, “By working in collaboration as a law enforcement community to track down and detain these fugitives across state boundaries, we are conveying a strong message that we are unified in our mission to dismantle these violent criminal organizations and put an end to the chaos they propagate.”
Authorities are planning to extradite the three suspects to Texas for prosecution in the homicide case, while a fourth gang member, Jhonny Jesus Martinez Serrano, 29, is still at large.
Individuals who may have information on Martinez Serrano’s whereabouts can assist ICE anonymously by contacting investigators at 1-877-447-4847.
