Files Lawsuit Against Kansas City Police Following Altercation at NFL Playoff Game

Trey Songz has taken legal action regarding an incident that occurred several years ago, suing the Kansas City Police Department over an altercation that took place at a Kansas City Chiefs NFL playoff game.
According to the lawsuit, Trey alleges that during the AFC Championship Game between the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills in January 2021, he was seated at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri when individuals in close proximity began harassing him due to his celebrity status.
The situation escalated to a point where security and law enforcement were called to Trey’s seat, with video footage capturing the police interaction.
Allegedly, when security personnel and officers arrived, they failed to shield Trey from “hostile, belligerent, and intoxicated attendees,” opting instead to physically assault him, wrongfully arrest him, handcuff him, and detain him in custody.
Subsequently, Trey was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer, all of which were later dropped.
In his lawsuit, Trey contends that he endured physical harm, emotional anguish, harm to his professional reputation, and financial setbacks as a consequence of the incident, asserting that the Kansas City Police Department employed excessive force prior to unlawfully apprehending and detaining him.
Trey is seeking unspecified damages as a result of the ordeal.
Attempts to reach out to the Kansas City Police Department for comment have not yet elicited a response.
