President Trump, known for his energetic dance moves to the Village People’s “YMCA” at campaign rallies and public events, revealed to House Republicans during a private retreat at the Kennedy Center that his wife Melania disapproves of his routine, calling it “not presidential.” Despite her objections, Trump insisted that “everybody wants me to dance.”
In a lighthearted exchange, Trump shared that Melania compared his dancing to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, questioning whether FDR would have danced in office. Trump, with a smile, pointed out the unique circumstances of Roosevelt’s presidency, as he was confined to a wheelchair due to polio, implying that dancing would not have been feasible for him.
Despite Trump’s attempts to justify his dancing, Melania remained unmoved in her opinion. According to Trump, she suggested that the audience’s positive reaction may not reflect their true feelings. However, Trump argued that the crowd’s enthusiastic response proves otherwise, as they often cheer and encourage him to dance.
