President Trump’s approval ratings are plummeting, with five new polls indicating a significant drop in public support. These polls reveal that his ratings are the lowest for a new presidential term since World War II.

Surveys from reputable sources such as CNN, CBS, ABC, the Washington Post, NBC, and the New York Times all show a decline in Trump’s standing since he began implementing tariffs on major trading partners of the United States.

Despite the negative polling data, Trump still maintains higher approval ratings than Democrats in crucial areas and enjoys nearly 90% support among Republicans.

One poll conducted by Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos indicated that Trump’s approval rating is the lowest of any president in the first 100 days of his term since 1945, with only 39% approving of his job performance while 55% disapprove.

Other polls also show a downward trend, with CBS News, NBC News, and the New York Times/Siena College polls pegging Trump’s overall approval rating at 45% and 42%, respectively.

Typically, presidents experience a honeymoon phase when they take office before seeing a decline in approval ratings. However, Trump’s ratings have dropped faster than most of his predecessors, attributed to public concerns over his tariff policies.

Despite the decline, Trump’s economic approval rating is only two points higher than Biden’s about a year ago. Additionally, voters trust him more to lead the country than congressional Democrats, who have a low 30% approval rating.

Trump has defended his trade policies, stating that they are necessary to rejuvenate American industry and foster long-term economic growth, despite causing some unease among the public.
