The American public has largely shifted their stance on Trump’s immigration policy, now showing declining support for it.
The Trump administration is grappling with the reality that an issue they believed would secure their electoral victory has transformed into a significant liability.
Tom Homan, the so-called “border czar,” took to Fox News to deflect criticism by pointing fingers at the media, suggesting they are responsible for the public’s disillusionment with the hardline deportation agenda.
Homan asserted:
“The dedicated workers at ICE are doing remarkable things. We are actively searching for over 300,000 missing children and have already located 10,000. But have you heard about this in the news? No! The media is simply ignoring it. This should be a nonpartisan issue.”
“Arresting potential public safety and national security threats should unite us all. Rescuing children? That’s something everyone should rally behind. But instead, the media is misleading the public, and the Democrats—who clearly don’t want President Trump to succeed—are fighting against us. Let me clarify: we are achieving success. Every illegal immigrant we arrest for posing a safety threat makes America safer. Every national security risk we deport contributes to our security.”

The crux of the matter is that a significant portion of those detained and deported are not criminals or security threats; they are ordinary individuals who have not committed any criminal acts. It’s crucial to remember that illegal entry or overstaying a visa is classified as a civil offense, not a criminal one.
According to Homan, the overarching issue is that many wish for Trump to fail, which he claims has led to the public’s waning support for his immigration policies.
Interestingly, Homan also acknowledged that there is indeed a group violating the law—namely, the Trump administration itself.
