Trump has been known for making bold proposals that often collapse. At one point, he suggested distributing checks up to $2,000, funded by his administration’s tariffs. However, the Supreme Court dismissed these tariffs earlier this year.
Additionally, Trump, alongside Elon Musk, proposed $5,000 dividend checks while Musk managed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Yet, Americans have not received any of these checks.
The latest promise from Trump involves a $1.2 trillion expenditure, leading to accusations of attempting to influence voters with financial incentives. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer criticized this move, stating, “Trump’s presidency is so failed and broken, he is resorting to trying to bribe the American people for their votes. An insult to Americans, to democracy, and an admission of how absolutely screwed he is.”
