Inflation has surged to 4.2% during Trump’s term. In contrast, inflation stood at 2.9% in the final month of Joe Biden’s presidency. The rise in inflation is attributed solely to Trump, with the majority of the increase linked to his conflict with Iran.

NPR reported:

A report from the Labor Department on Wednesday indicated that consumer prices in May increased by 4.2% compared to the previous year. This marks the largest annual increase since April 2023. In contrast, the Labor Department notes that average wages have only grown by 3.4% over the past year, leading to a decline in the real purchasing power of workers.

Between April and May, prices rose by 0.5%, with over 60% of this increase attributed to higher energy costs.

These figures are alarming and would typically prompt any president to urgently seek solutions. However, this is not the case with Donald Trump.

Instead of holding a press conference to reassure the American public that he is addressing this issue and comprehends its significance, Trump did the opposite.

Trump attempted to minimize the impact of inflation and portrayed the economic difficulties faced by Americans as beneficial.

His response to a question, which any other president might have used to show concern and empathy, was bewildering.

When asked, “Are you concerned, Mr. President, about the latest inflation number which came out this morning? Could that be a detriment—”

Trump interrupted, “No, I love it.”
