President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of a leadership change in Iran, despite Vice President JD Vance’s earlier dismissal of the idea of “regime change.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump questioned why there shouldn’t be a change in Iran’s leadership if they are unable to make the country great again.
However, both Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized that recent U.S. strikes on Iran were focused solely on eliminating the country’s nuclear capabilities and were not aimed at regime change. Vance made it clear in a Sunday NBC News interview that the mission was not about regime change.
Trump’s statement on social media appeared to contradict the administration’s official position on Iran. This came after he previously stated that the U.S. knew the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader but had no plans to take him out at the moment.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also weighed in, stating that while regime change in Iran was not a goal of his country’s attacks, it could potentially be a result.
The situation remains complex, with various perspectives on the issue of leadership change in Iran.
