In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump stated:
I am thrilled to announce the appointment of the highly esteemed United States Senator from the Great State of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin, as the new United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), effective March 31, 2026. The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us admirably and achieved remarkable results (particularly regarding the border!), will transition to the role of Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our exciting new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere, which we will unveil this Saturday in Doral, Florida. I extend my gratitude to Kristi for her service at “Homeland.”
With a decade in the House of Representatives and three years in the Senate, Markwayne has excelled in representing the wonderful people of Oklahoma, where I won all 77 counties in 2016, 2020, and 2024! A true MAGA Warrior and former undefeated professional MMA fighter, Markwayne possesses the wisdom and courage necessary to advance our America First agenda. As the only Native American in the Senate, he is an exceptional advocate for our incredible Tribal Communities.
Markwayne will be relentless in his efforts to secure our border, combat migrant crime, and prevent the influx of illegal drugs, all while striving to MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN. He will undoubtedly be a spectacular Secretary of Homeland Security. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
In a classic Trump maneuver, rather than admitting a mistake, he has chosen to reassign Noem to a nebulous position few have heard of, effectively masking a dismissal.
Read on to discover what ultimately prompted Trump to make the decision to part ways with Noem.
