President Donald Trump faced a tough question from the media during his visit to the Capitol on Tuesday to rally support for his proposed bill. A reporter from the nonprofit organization NOTUS asked Trump about Rep. Andy Harris’ comments that the bill lacked enough conservative support to pass.
Trump responded by stating that the vote would ultimately determine the bill’s fate and mentioned having had productive discussions with GOP lawmakers. When asked who the reporter worked for, Trump seemed unfamiliar with NOTUS and advised the reporter to “get yourself a real job.”
NOTUS, a nonprofit and nonpartisan outlet founded by Politico’s Robert Allbritton, aims to train young political journalists through the Allbritton Journalism Institute. The encounter between Trump and the NOTUS reporter highlighted the divide between the administration and certain media outlets.
