Donald Trump and Kamala Harris faced off in their highly anticipated first presidential debate, and things quickly escalated into a bizarre exchange filled with baseless claims and heated arguments.

During the debate, Trump went on a rant about immigrants allegedly “eating pets” in Ohio, a claim that left many viewers scratching their heads. He also doubled down on his previous accusations against Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, accusing them of supporting abortions in the ninth month of pregnancy and even endorsing “baby executions” after birth.

Harris, on the other hand, laughed off Trump’s claims and denounced his “abortion bans” that she said were designed to overturn Roe v. Wade. She emphasized that the government, especially Trump, should not dictate what women can do with their bodies.

The debate, which took place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, featured no live audience and was moderated by ABC News anchors Linsey Davis and David Muir. Trump and Harris stood at customized podiums to address their height difference.

As the candidates sparred on various issues, including immigration and women’s reproductive rights, the event drew significant attention from the public. A recent NPR/CBS News/Marist poll indicated that 70% of Americans planned to watch the debate, with a third of respondents suggesting it could impact their voting decisions.

Overall, the debate showcased the stark differences between the two candidates and highlighted the contentious nature of the upcoming presidential election. With tensions running high and accusations flying, both Trump and Harris made their case to the American people, hoping to sway undecided voters in their favor.
