Former President Trump has made his way back to TikTok, reminding his younger audience that they “owe me a lot” for preserving their beloved social media platform.
“Let me say to all you young TikTok users, I saved TikTok, so you owe me a lot,” Trump declared in a post on Monday, marking his return after nearly a year away from the app.
“Now, you see me here in the Oval Office, and someday, one of you will sit at this desk, doing an amazing job too.”
Vice President JD Vance also resumed his TikTok presence shortly after the administration sought to transfer majority control of TikTok to American investors, ensuring the app remains accessible in the U.S.
“Happy to be back on TikTok, thanks to President Trump!” Vance remarked in his own video. “Stay tuned here for more updates from the White House, and perhaps even some sombrero memes.”
This comeback follows Trump’s signing of an executive order that supports a deal aimed at placing the popular video-sharing platform under U.S. ownership.
Although many details about the impending deal remain under wraps, the initiative would involve licensing the well-known algorithm from ByteDance that keeps TikTok users engaged.
Tech powerhouse Oracle, confirmed as a partner in the U.S. investment group aiming to acquire the app, is set to audit the algorithm and ensure security compliance, as per the proposed deal.
Thanks to the new agreement, China will be barred from accessing the data of U.S. users.
