In recent news, Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of new talks with Iran in the near future. He mentioned that a decision on whether to join Israel’s attack on the country would be made within the next two weeks. This statement from the US president comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, with American military assets being deployed in response to fears of a potential conflict.

Despite the ongoing missile exchanges between Iran and Israel, the US has kept open channels for negotiations with Tehran. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that correspondence with Iranian officials has continued, indicating a willingness to explore diplomatic solutions.

The conflict between Israel and Iran has raised concerns about the possibility of US involvement. President Trump has hinted at potential military strikes, with the Pentagon preparing for various scenarios. European countries, including the UK, France, and Germany, are also engaging in diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and find a peaceful resolution.

A meeting in Geneva between European representatives and Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi aims to restart monitoring of Iran’s nuclear program and address concerns about its ballistic missile capabilities. This gathering marks a revival of the “E3” format, where European nations work together to resolve issues with Iran.

The crisis over Iran’s nuclear program began after the US withdrew from the 2015 nuclear accord. Since then, diplomatic efforts have been hindered by ongoing tensions and military actions in the region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been vocal about his opposition to negotiations with Iran, citing concerns about the country’s nuclear ambitions.
