Republicans are waking up to a rather inconvenient truth: the government shutdown has, so far, spared many Americans from its wrath. For the average citizen, particularly those not employed by the government, life has continued largely unscathed. However, this changes dramatically tomorrow when approximately 41.7 million Americans will find their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits abruptly cut off.
Former President Trump, who has been notably reticent about the shutdown until now, appears to be feeling the pressure. In a recent post on his social media platform, he proclaimed:
I just returned from Asia, where I had the honor of meeting leaders from various countries including China, Japan, and Australia. It was a tremendous honor, particularly to witness the renewed respect for America on the global stage â RESPECTED LIKE NEVER BEFORE! We struck great trade deals, established long-term relationships, and financial inflows are surging due to tariffs and, frankly, the landslide results of the 2024 Presidential Election.
However, a recurring question from international leaders was how the Democrats managed to SHUT DOWN the United States, and why the formidable Republicans permitted such a situation. This query lingered in my mind during my return flight: WHY?
Majority Leader John Thune and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson are performing admirably, but the Democrats seem to be operating in a reality of their own making, driven by what can only be described as a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). They appear to be advocating for trillions to be siphoned from our healthcare system to benefit those deemed unworthy â individuals who have entered our country illegally, some of whom have questionable pasts.
This will undoubtedly harm American citizens, and Republicans will not stand for it. Now is the moment for them to wield their âTRUMP CARDâ and pursue what is known as the Nuclear Option â abolishing the Filibuster, and doing so swiftly! While the Democrats fought tirelessly to achieve this in the past three years, their efforts were thwarted by Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona.
Never before have the Democrats fought so vigorously for a cause, fully aware of the immense power that dismantling the Filibuster would grant them. Their goal appears to be the substantial expansion (PACKING!) of the United States Supreme Court, the admission of Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico as states (which could result in acquiring four Senate seats, numerous House seats, and at least eight Electoral Votes!), along with numerous other potentially destructive initiatives.
