On Thursday, President Trump made a pointed remark, advising Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to “take back” Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar, following her controversial comments regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
“Did you know I met with the leader of Somalia?” Trump told reporters during an Oval Office appearance, referencing Omar, who represents Minnesota’s “Squad.”
He continued, “I suggested that he might want to take her back, and he responded, ‘I don’t want her.’”
The jab came after the congresswoman launched a series of disparaging remarks about the late 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder, evoking laughter from Vice President JD Vance, FBI Director Kash Patel, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and other officials present.
Just one day after Kirk was fatally shot during a speaking event in Utah on September 10, Omar criticized the overwhelming praise being directed towards the conservative leader and condemned his “hateful rhetoric.”
<pOmar disparaged claims that Kirk wanted to engage in civil discussion. She remarked to the progressive platform Zeteo, “These individuals are deluded, and we must hold them accountable amidst our feelings of anger and sorrow.”
Later, she posted another video on X, criticizing Democrats and public figures for “normalizing Kirk,” labeling him a “despicable human being” and a “stochastic terrorist.”
Omar further reinforced her contentious remarks in an interview with CNN.
“I refuse to sit idly by and be judged for not wanting to acknowledge any legacy he left behind, which deserves to be relegated to history’s trash bin, and we should aim to move forward and leave behind the hate he propagated,” the controversial representative stated.
In response, South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace initiated a motion to censure Omar for allegedly “celebrating murder,” but the effort was blocked last week, as four House Republicans sided with Democrats to oppose it narrowly.
Renowned golfer Phil Mickelson also condemned Omar for her incendiary remarks about Kirk, calling for her to be “sent back” to her home country of Somalia.
Mickelson stated on X, “Ilhan spreads hate every time she speaks; she entered this country deceitfully and ought to be returned to Somalia soon.”
This comment was in reaction to a video of the politician referring to Kirk as “Dr. Frankenstein” and alleging he “was killed by his creation.”
Tyler Robinson — a 22-year-old individual with “leftist views” and a transgender partner — has been charged with aggravated murder and other offenses in connection with the killing of the father of two at Utah Valley University.
Omar has yet to respond to The Post’s request for a statement.
