PoliticusUSA is a platform that prides itself on being ad-free, corporate-free, and unyielding in their commitment to providing unbiased news coverage. They are dedicated to shining a light on the truth and refusing to succumb to the narrative pushed by the mainstream media.

One of the most frustrating aspects of the media’s coverage of Trump is their tendency to adopt the administration’s framing of issues without question. A recent example of this is when the White House announced that Trump would be signing an executive order to make English the official language of the United States.

It is important to note that executive orders do not have the power to establish new laws. Instead, they serve to provide guidance to the Executive Branch on how to implement existing laws. In this case, the executive order will allow government agencies and organizations that receive federal funding to choose whether or not to offer documents and services in languages other than English.

This decision could have significant implications for the 22% of people in the US who speak a language other than English at home. With 13.2% of the population speaking Spanish, a total of 68 million people in the US could be affected by this executive order. By pressuring organizations to only offer services in English, Trump is effectively cutting off access to government documents and services for non-English speakers, many of whom are non-white residents.

This move could have serious consequences for individuals who rely on government assistance or services, such as those who encounter issues with Social Security. Imagine being a legal resident and taxpayer in the US, but being unable to receive help from the government because they only offer services in English. This is the reality that Trump’s executive order is creating.

Ultimately, the executive order is not really about making English the official language. Instead, it appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to harm non-white individuals in the US. By limiting access to government services for non-English speakers, Trump is further marginalizing a significant portion of the population.
