Two Suspects Charged with Plotting to Detonate Weapons of Mass Destruction in Los Angeles
Two suspects associated with a far-left extremist group known as the Turtle Island Liberation Front have been charged with planning to detonate weapons of mass destruction in and around Los Angeles. The alleged attack was aimed at tech companies and logistics firms, with the intention to “completely pulverize” these targets, as announced by prosecutors on Tuesday.
The federal grand jury indictment charged four members of the group with terrorism-related offenses, including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, providing material support to terrorists, and possession of unregistered firearms.
Suspects and Charges
Among the suspects, Zachary Aaron Page, a 32-year-old trans woman, and Audrey Illeene Carroll, also known as “Black Moon,” were charged with conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. The other two defendants, Dante James Anthony-Gaffield and Tina Lai, are also facing similar charges and are currently being held without bond. Micah James Legnon, a 29-year-old transgender Marine veteran, was arrested in Louisiana in connection with the alleged plot.
Page, who requested to be transferred to a women’s prison, was denied this request during a recent hearing.
Group Affiliation and Communication
The Turtle Island Liberation Front is described as an anti-capitalist and anti-government organization. The defendants were identified as members of a radical faction within the group, which communicated through an encrypted messaging platform called “Order of the Black Lotus.”
The group’s extremist ideology and alleged plot to use weapons of mass destruction have raised concerns about the potential for violence and terrorism within far-left extremist circles. The charges brought against the suspects highlight the seriousness of the threat posed by individuals and groups who seek to carry out violent attacks in the name of their radical beliefs.
Law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring these developments and taking steps to prevent any potential acts of terrorism that may be planned by extremist groups. The indictment of the suspects involved in this case serves as a reminder of the ongoing threat posed by domestic terrorism and the importance of vigilance in combating such threats.
