When Obie Williams spoke with his daughter on the phone during Hurricane Helene, he could hear babies crying and branches hitting the windows in her rural Georgia town of Thomson. Kobe Williams, 27, was hunkering down with her month-old twin boys and her mother, Mary Jones, in their trailer home. Despite her father’s advice to seek shelter in the bathroom, Kobe was chatting on the phone with family members while holding her sons when tragedy struck.

A loud crash was heard as a tree fell through the roof of Kobe’s bedroom, leaving her and the twins lifeless. This devastating incident marked the loss of the youngest victims of Hurricane Helene, which had already claimed hundreds of lives across several states.

Obie Williams expressed profound grief at never being able to meet his grandsons and mourned the loss of Kobe and the twins. The family, including Kobe’s niece Chiquita Jones-Hampton, is in shock and heartbroken over the tragedy.

Despite the destruction caused by the storm in Thomson and Augusta, Obie Williams’ home city, the family is coming together to support each other in their time of sorrow. Kobe was remembered as a loving, social, and strong woman who brought joy to those around her.

As they prepare for Kobe and the twins’ funeral, the family finds solace in memories of Kobe’s vibrant personality and love for her children. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of natural disasters on families and communities.

May Kobe Williams and her precious twin boys rest in peace.
