In an air traffic control exchange, a pilot detailed the damage: âTheir right wing clipped our nose and the cockpit. We have damage to our windscreen and⊠some of our screens in here.â
As the chaos unfolded, CBS News producer Joey Annunziato, a passenger on Flight 5047, described the moment: âWe got absolutely smashed by another Delta flight. I donât know if we hit them or they hit us, but it was super jarring.â

Another traveler on the scene, William Lusk, recounted, âThe plane that had landed stopped, jerked, and jumped to the right.â He vividly relayed that âEveryone went dead silent. And as everyone went dead silent, the pilot calmly came on and said, âHey, weâve been in a crash, everyone remain calm.’â
Thankfully, there were no serious injuries among passengers. However, one crew member sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The affected passengers were then evacuated and placed onto shuttle buses. Delta Airlines has committed to providing hotel accommodations for the affected passengers and arranging new flights for any who require them on Thursday.
