During a Los Angeles Rams game, two hawks trained to deter other birds were stolen when their vehicle was taken, as reported by officials.
The hawks, named Alice and Bubba, were secured inside a Kawasaki Mule Utility Task Vehicle with the keys still in the ignition when a thief jumped in and drove away on Sunday afternoon, according to the Inglewood Police Department.
According to police, Alice and Bubbaâwho were meant to assist a falconer in preventing other birds from causing disruptions during the Rams matchâwere secured in green containers within the vehicle.
Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle leave the SoFi Stadium grounds shortly after it was taken. The last sighting of the stolen UTV occurred in a retail area, as authorities noted.
Charles Cogger, the falconer responsible for Alice and Bubba, is deeply saddened by the incident.
âI have been extremely distressed over the past day, shedding many tears,â he conveyed to ABC7, while mentioning that he still has one other hawk, Hope.
âItâs crucial that I retrieve them by Thursday at the latest because if I donât, theyâll have gone four days without food and water, which is quite challenging for them,â Cogger expressed.
The police department released images of the suspect, described as a male wearing a black jacket with a white stripe down the arm, along with black pants and shoes.
