Two women grabbed from behind in separate River North attacks: report
SHARE

Two women were targeted in separate attacks near their River North homes this week, causing concern among residents and prompting increased vigilance along the local riverfront. According to police reports and alerts from residential building management, the incidents occurred in broad daylight, with the assailant targeting the victims from behind.

The first attack took place on Saturday afternoon in the 900 block of North Kingsbury Street. A woman was grabbed by the neck from behind while walking near the river, as reported in a preliminary police report. The following day, another woman was put into a headlock by a man as she walked her dog along the river in the 700 block of North Kingsbury Street. Fortunately, neither victim was robbed or seriously injured, as the assailant fled when the women screamed. The motive behind these attacks remains unclear.

In response to the incidents, Chicago police officers have increased patrols in the area to inform residents and ensure their safety. A surveillance photo of the suspect, provided by law enforcement, was circulated by a residential management company to aid in identifying the perpetrator. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made thus far.

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities. The safety and well-being of residents in the River North neighborhood are of utmost importance, and cooperation with law enforcement is essential in addressing and preventing such incidents in the future.
