The United States has marked a significant shift in immigration trends, with net migration declining across every metropolitan area nationwide last year. This development stands as a major achievement for President Donald J. Trump, reflecting his persistent dedication to strengthening border security and prioritizing America.
From The New York Times:
“In the Laredo metro area, located on the Texas border, immigration came to a near halt. El Centro, a metro area traditionally serving as a desert gateway into California, saw more people leaving for other countries than arriving. In Denver and its suburbs, the net immigration rate dropped by nearly 75%. In the Chicago region, it was reduced by almost two-thirds.
All metropolitan areas across the United States experienced decreased immigration rates in the year leading up to July 2025 compared to the previous year, according to new Census Bureau estimates released on Thursday.”
The substantial reductions highlight the clear impact of President Trump’s hallmark border security strategies. With illegal border crossings at their lowest point since the 1970s, the U.S. experienced net negative migration last year for the first time in over half a century. This shift reverses years of open border challenges that weakened American labor, taxed public resources, and compromised national sovereignty.
The American electorate chose a secure border and national sovereignty. President Trump is fulfilling that mandate, and the outcomes are evident.
